Hi, my name is Maria Anamoto from Consumer Credit Counseling Service and today we are going to learn how to obtain your credit score.

The score is the number – the magic number – that shows the creditors how you are doing with your credit history. So, basically it’s good for you to have both the credit report and the credit score.

  • Now you can get your credit report for free once a year through the website annualcreditreport.com. This is the only authorized website to get a credit report for free once a year from each of the three credit report agencies.
  • Now, this credit report, when you pull it, doesn’t have – it doesn’t come with the score, but you’re going to be able to buy it. Sometimes it doesn’t cost more than 6 or 7 dollars per score and you’re going to see that each agency is going to have a different score because they calculate scores in different ways. But they’re going to be close enough, okay, so you can go through annualcreditreport.com and get your credit report and then see if there’s going to be a link where you can get your score.
  • Or, if you prefer not to use that website, you can contact any of the three major credit report agencies – Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion – and buy your credit report online plus the score.
